My school is located in Henderson, Nevada, which is in a large urban district. We often get overlooked when it comes to extra funding from the school district or state and we do not receive any Title 1 money. We have a supportive community and administrative team, however still lack the resources necessary for our students to reach their fullest potential

I want to provide the best educational experience I can as their teacher. These kids deserve a fighting chance to succeed!
My Project
My school has been left in the dark when it comes to technology. My class shares computer lab time with the rest of the almost 700 students at the school. These labs have outdated laptop and desktop computers that are continually breaking down. Our classroom has 6 devices supplied by the school for 24 students to share. My goal is to eventually have one device for each student.
My third graders need the opportunity to use technology daily to have a chance to develop the skills necessary as they move along on their educational journey.
My students will use these Chromebooks for all subject areas. Students will learn to use browsers and search tools to research information, which they will publish in a Google Doc or Slideshow. Students will login to Google Classroom and find additional information about what we are learning, links to online assignments, and receive immediate feedback. Students can be completing meaningful online lesson practice in math while I work with a small group of students. Also, they can read and respond to text in creative ways. As my class becomes more and more tech-savvy, they will have more of a fighting chance to pass the standardized, high-stakes tests that are computer-based.
