I have 22 energetic kindergarten and transitional kindergarten (TK) students who come to school with many questions and eager to learn. They are very creative and inquisitive. They enjoy reading, writing, and art, but most of all they love to learn through play!
For many, my classroom is their first school experience so I need to provide rich, developmentally appropriate, hands-on learning experiences that will ignite a love for learning.
Although some face challenges, they come to school ready to soak up new knowledge!
A sand table will be a great addition to our play area. We had a sand table in the kinder yard and the kids loved playing there, but it was ruined last year. This sand table has wheels and a lid so it will be easy to move and store.
Four kinder classes share the playground during recess!
After a lot of begging from the kinder teachers, the principal purchased toys for the kinder yard. We have new toys now, but there are 80 kids playing in the yard at the same time! There are more kids than toys! Some children are left without anything to play and sometimes quarrel with each other over the new toys.
This sand table will provide more opportunities for hands-on sensory play and will extend learning outdoors! Sand play supports eye-hand coordination, fine motor skills, social skills, and math and science concepts. Sand play is a must in a kinder yard!
