Learning can be fun! Kindergarten students learn through their senses and experiences.
"Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire."
--William Butler Yeats
My 5-6 year old kindergarten students are eager to learn.
They represent various ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds. Parents, students and teachers are satisfied with the learning environment, social and physical environment, and home-school relations. My school strives for continuous improvement in instructional delivery and student performance.
My Project
Kindergarten students are growing cognitively, physically, socially, and emotionally. They flourish in a learning environment that is interactive and fun while learning through their senses. Unlike beach or play sand, kinetic sand has special properties that make it soft and stretchy. It is indoor play sand with the properties of motion (it moves!). Kinetic sand, molds, tools, and trays will provide an opportunity for the children to learn about letters and numbers, improve their fine motor skills, and use their creativity through their sense of touch. As a result, the children will grow cognitively in the areas of writing, reading, math, and science. Furthermore, kinetic sand will provide opportunities for social and emotional growth as children interact with their peers to explore and create.
The use of kinetic sand in the classroom enhances sensory awareness, fine motor skills, and creativity.
It is stress reducing, captures and maintains attention and great for children with sensory issues. It is safe (non-toxic, gluten free, dye free, bacteria free) and clean (recombines easily so it does not stick to skin or surfaces). Kinetic sand never dries out, so it will provide years of fun for numerous children.
