My Students

My students have generous hearts and innovative minds. Our STEM program offers a biomedical engineering pathway and an advanced healthcare pathway, and what makes our program unique is that we teach STEM English classes in which I support our students' science fair and research endeavors. I enjoy teaching the incoming freshmen because they are blown away by our expectations at first but inevitably rise to those expectations and exceed them. With the added pressures of our technological connections, it is increasingly difficult for students to focus on fulfilling endeavors where they can stretch their academic skills and achieve. Encouraging my students to engage in real world

problems to find solutions that directly affect other children is important.

More important will be their connection to these students and their discovery that we all share anxieties, and when we help each other, all our lives are richer.

My Project

The technology we have chosen will enhance our students' ability to engage in STEM apps and to develop their ideas immediately without having to wait for a computer lab to open up. We are excited to teach and for them to learn with the Samsung Flip. They will also be able to conduct community outreach with middle and elementary school students with the Spheros, drones, and wind and water sets. Hands-on exploration requires tools, and since we are just in our second year as a STEM program, this package is boosting our program to the next level where the ideas will become reality.
