Same, Same, & Different

My Students

The students at our school truly take on the meaning of our school mascot: heroes. They are heroes because they worked hard and accomplished so much despite the pandemic! They logged on, learned, and did everything they were supposed to do despite technical issues, minimal supplies, and not having their teachers in the same room! Now, we're returning stronger and smarter than ever! We did not let any obstacle or any pandemic get in our way!

Our heroes have returned to school stronger and smarter than ever, ready to work, learn, and have fun!

Heroes are not only smart, but they are respectful and caring people! Heroes are also problem solvers and lifelong learners, and they give meaning to the word heroes.

My Project

My students are all different, yet they are all the same. We've been learning about respecting different cultures, identities, and races. We are all the same yet different. My project will begin with a book read aloud. The monsters in this book are all the same yet different. As we read along, we will be able to identify the similarities AND respect the differences. One monster is great at math, but has a difficult time with reading. Another monster is great at reading, but struggles with art. After reading, each student will be able to sew their own monster. Every monster in the sewing kit is different, yet they are all the same.

My students need monster sewing kits to help each student appreciate the similarities & differences among each one, and to be able to teach about equity among the "monsters".

After our reading aloud, students will be able to use our portable CD players to listen to this book among other books that have a similar theme. We need batteries for these portable CD players. As students read along with books that teach of equity and equality, students will need to create a project displaying their book and what they have learned from it. Markers are a MUST for art!
