Help me give my students updates to our classroom library and rigorous new text sets. I am looping with my last class and will need materials and books that will support us as I teach a new grade!
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
One of my students hugged me at the end of this past school year and asked me if I would be coming back next year. I looked at the student surprised because in my mind I thought, why wouldn't I be here next year? I then realized that the idea of someone not being in their life the next year was not an uncommon thing for students at my school to experience. Moments like this made me reaffirm my chosen profession and why this path I am on in so important.
Working in an urban school, my students are faced with outside factors that I cannot control.
What I can control is what they are learning in the classroom. We strive to create goals for these kids where they can compete at the national level.
The students in my classroom are nothing short of amazing and deserve an education that would be good enough for ANY child in the United States.
My Project
I will begin a new chapter in my teaching career with a move to 3rd grade! I will be looping with my students from 2nd grade and I am so excited to grow and excel with my same kids from last year. In order to properly support them on their learning path, I will need to update my current library with rigorous and engaging content that will challenge my kids. With limited resources available at my school, this project will supplement the supplies we do receive and allow me to focus my efforts on pushing my students to their academic potential. I will be able to create small group work with the text sets that is engaging and fun for students as well.
