Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach young children ages three to five years old. The students in my Preschool Program for Children with Disabilities (PPCD) classroom are a fun and loving group. They are still developing their physical, cognitive and emotional skills. They receive OT and PT services. Learning to walk, use stairs and feed themselves are just a few skills important for independence.

My students love to listen to stories, paint, work with friends in centers, dance, sing and move their whole body to learn.

They enjoy going to the motor lab to work their large muscles.

My Project

Last year, our town was hit by Hurricane Harvey. Our school took a hit. Our motor lab lost large mats due to water damage. We are in need of several large mats. The mats will go under the swing, the play set, slide, the trampoline and a ball tent.

My students love to run, climb and jump.

Each child is unique. My students have physical, cognitive and emotional disabilities. They love to be moving. Sometimes their little feet are moving so quickly that they fall. These greatly needed mats will provide protection from falls and help students gain confidence and independence.
