Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We are a Title I, at-risk school with 100% free breakfast and lunch. In addition to the free breakfast and lunch, we also provide a snack of fresh fruits and vegetables and dinner for over 300 of our students. For many of our students, this is the only substantial food that they will receive.
Many of our students are English language learners and do not speak English at home.
Our students are very bright, but don't have the resources to always do all that they are capable of in the classroom.
My Project
This project will provide all of my students the opportunity to practice science safely. Students in kinder thru fifth grade will have many opportunities to explore the concepts in all science domains.
In order for the students to learn about safety, they need gloves, and goggles.
Students will be using the gloves whenever they have materials to work with that may cause them to dirty their hands. Goggles will be used when working with liquids and/or mixing materials for projects and experiments. I am also in need of a pair of goggles for myself to protect my eyes during experiments. We also need a set of aquarium gloves to use when cleaning our critter tanks.
