This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
The students that I teach are from kindergarten to fifth grade. Despite the harsh conditions by which some of my students live, they come to school excited and ready to learn. Some of my students do not get a chance to play outside because their parents worry about their safety, which makes it even more important that they are given a quality physical education class.
I believe that physical well-being contributes to academic success, and is essential to children’s development and happiness throughout life.
Our school is located in Tennessee where we have a high poverty rate. My students do not allow their circumstances to stop them from excelling. I would love to expose them to a variety of health and physical education activities.
My Project
The requested materials will help to establish a safe space for my students to better engage in physical education. My students need a chair to sit in when they finish their assessments. After their assessment they need to record their score. They also reflect and write what they need to improve on. We also need a cart file to be able to pull the work/ assessments to the different areas we have physical education.
My students also need mats so they would be able to walk into the PE portable when it is raining or wet outside and not slip and fall.
We have a front and back door that need mats to provide a safe learning environment.
