My students need middle school grade triple beam balances, safety goggles, and something to clean their goggles with. We perform labs requiring better and safer equipment
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
Our school and our students are always striving for the best. My kids come to my classroom everyday wondering what we are going to light up, burn, or subject to experimental conditions. They are curious, inquisitive, and eager to explore. Science is in our genes and in my class we live it everyday.
We are a small charter school in the city of Atlanta with great students and great ambitions.
Students enter our building everyday with the desire to learn and to succeed. All our students strive to be better everyday and our academics are rigorous and exciting. We expect always the best and we refuse to be the same. Instead we strive to set new standards and to show others what we are capable of. We would like to provide such opportunities whenever possible without placing our children in precarious situations. Their safety is our priority.
We will be performing many different labs through the year. Right now we are getting ready to perform experiments using eggs and gummy bears. We will continue conducting labs and inquiry lessons. The triple beam balances will be used for finding out the mass of different objects, the goggles for eye protection, and the alcohol wipes for cleaning our goggles.
The number one objective is to provide my students with all the safety we can provide them while exercising their science curiosity.
They also need to start using equipment which will become part of their science classes. They have surpassed the elementary level and entered the next stage of their school experience.
