This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Reading, writing and math...we've got that down. Responsibility, volunteerism, and self confidence, we're working on that.

I teach thirty five, fourth grade students at a year round public school in California.

My kids are great, very helpful, and working on becoming solid citizens. My students help out our on-site preschool during their free time. Supervised by me, they help little ones in and out of their parents' car so the parents can get to work on time.

My Project

We are requesting safety equipment to allow my students to help out but stay safe doing so. The drop off point is a busy intersection with lots of bicycle and pedestrian traffic as well. A rope barrier and safety cones could really aid in creating a safe working environment for my kids.

My students' safety is of the utmost priority for me and I have come close to shutting down my kids' little volunteer operation but they love it.

I have seen my students transform into caring, involved members of the community and I am proud to be their teacher. It would be fantastic if they could continue their endeavors safely.
