This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Do you remember what it is like to play on a sports' team? What if you had the excitement and the energy to play the game, but you couldn't play because your team did not have the resources and equipment needed to play the game.
My student athletes are highly motivated in all that they do, but they do not always have the resources that they need to succeed.
My student athletes are ready for the softball season to start! They are eager to learn more and see their teammates again! They are excited that the weather is finally getting warmer in Chicago and they have a new coach, they want to get outside and play!
My Project
My students will use the materials that I am requesting in the most basic way: to play softball. I was just put in charge of the varsity softball team, but I have absolutely no equipment, not even softballs! As I checked equipment inventory, I realized that we need everything: catcher equipment, softballs, bats, and tees (for practice). We need everything. This equipment will allow them to learn the fundamentals and reinforce the basics. This equipment will allow them to play at a competitive level. This equipment will give all student athletes opportunity, no matter their socioeconomic status, to play softball and be part of a team.
Donations to this project will allow our student athletes to have the resources they need to practice and play at a competitive level.
When students play a sport, they learn more than just the sport. They learn cooperation, patience, dedication, hard work, and so much more. They build their character and make memories that will last a lifetime. Softball gives them all of these opportunities.
