We have a school population of almost 800 students, and one hundred percent of the students are living in apartments. Our students come from a variety of different economic backgrounds with over 85% of our students receiving free lunch. Students have the option to receive free breakfast daily through a program at the school that is open to all students.
Our school has a diverse population of students from various countries who speak a variety of different languages.
Many students will come to our school for the first time and have never learned to speak English. I have assisted our school in providing a variety of resources such as weekend food bags for students, free eye care and exams, dental screenings, a free food pantry, and a clothing closet.
My Project
Our students are our number one priority and their safety is of the utmost importance. The drop off and pick up lines is where we will be using these materials for safe and effective drop off and pick up routines for our dismissal line. We have had smaller cones in the past and have seen parents drive out of lines and run over the smaller cones. These cones to us represent our student body and when they get destroyed it is very upsetting. In the attempt to make this process safer and smoother we are requested the larger cones that will be more visible to parents.
These cones will keep students and parents safe on their way to school.
