Our public elementary school has a high percent of English language learners who come from low socio-economic backgrounds. Over 90% of the students in my school community qualify for free or reduced-price lunch.
COVID-19 has caused stress and uncertainty in our world, but the most important thing right now is the safety of the students and teachers in the classroom; therefore, making preparations for our students comes first.
It means planning ahead with the resources available and collecting the resources not available yet. Students need to feel safe in order to reduce the anxiety and stress caused by this pandemic so they can focus on learning.
Our Elementary school has been closed since March 13, 2020. Teachers are not sure if they will continue to do distance learning online all year or do hybrid teaching. However, preparations need to be made to prepare for this transition.
As a precaution, my goal is to keep the classroom as safe as possible for them. In order to do that, I will need to have the following items that will provide a clean and safer environment for us.
Evidence shows that certain precautions effectively decrease the risk of COVID-19 transmission; therefore, protective desk shield guards will help protect the students at their desks.
We will use these items daily to keep the classroom safe and clean.
Please help me provide a safe and healthy environment for my students/myself in the near future. These items will help me to prevent the spread of COVID-19 transmission by having these safety practices/devices in place.
