My district introduced a new program this year that gave my school an exciting opportunity to become one of the first to welcome this unique program into our community. Our program provides under-credited high school students with the opportunity to earn credits in a way that best fits their needs.
This program provides a very special opportunity for disengaged students by helping them reconnect with a school community.
Through our innovative Project-Based Learning curriculum, students have voice and choice throughout their modules. PBL curriculum not only provides students with the chance to feel proud about their work but also opens the door for social-emotional learning that they can use both inside and outside of the classroom.
Many students in our program have difficulties at home and this program creates a safe space for them to become successful.
Students in our program often feel misunderstood, but with our inclusive community, the same students are now taking pride in their work, their individuality, and their future.
My Project
These materials will help create a safe and encouraging learning environment. During these unpredictable times, it is often difficult for students to feel comfortable coming into school.
My goal is to do everything that I can to make sure students have everything they can to set them up for success.
The water bottles will allow students to safely hydrate during the school day, which in turn will boost engagement. The disposable face masks will encourage kids to change their masks and keep them fresh, wear them properly, and stop them from stretching out.
