Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are K.I.D.S. They are knowledgeable, inquisitive, determined, and successful. The school they attend serves a low-income area. For many students, the school sometimes is the most consistent part of their day. Unfortunately that hasn’t been very consistent. I have great pride in my students. We have a 95% attendance rate and very low mobility. My school is located in a rural area.
We are the hidden gems of the school district.
The students in my class are thirsty for knowledge. They come to school ready to learn. Eighty percent of the students in the class began our adventure into second grade far below grade level. This hasn’t stopped them from wanting to learn. In fact, it has fueled them. They have big goals, ideas, and hearts.
My Project
Students will use the lap desks for a smart seating solution. Students will be able to use their Chromebooks on the lap desks. Writing assignments will have a new place to be completed. Math problems can be solved in comfort.
Having lap desks for students will give them space, comfort, and a place to stretch their legs and minds.
Students that need to move, can move when they want to a new spot with the portable desks. This is an a special option for students needing more movement. When the weather is nice, we can even take the classroom outside. The requested portable desk will give us more work area without taking up valuable classroom space.
