60% of the students in my class last year lost their homes and belongings in Hurricane Harvey. In addition, they lost their classroom. We began school a month later than planned at a local church in town last year. This new school year (18-19), we hope to be back in our building, but it will be a close call!
My students are brave and adaptable.
These are just a few words I could use to describe them. They have embraced this year and have made the best out of the traumatic time in their short little lives. I cannot say enough good things about this sweet little class.
My Project
My students need these rolling carts to be able to have materials at their fingertips throughout the school day. We lost ours when Hurricane Harvey flooded our classroom in August of 2017.
A day in a Kindergarten classroom is very busy!
We use many materials throughout the day.
If our materials are stored around the room away from each child it takes a while for each child to go get them and can cause safety issues.
In these carts we could store extra glue, scissors, pencils. The students could keep their journal. They could store their personal containers of math counters and our sight word flash cards. The students could also house things in carts like writing boards and dry erase markers. The ideas are endless! My students would be prepared for each assignment if we had these rolling safe storage carts.
