Mr. Halcomb from San Pablo CA is requesting musical instruments through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need proper storage for their instruments. Currently, the 5 cellos in use sit propped up in a corner, which leads to inadvertent drops and bridge problems. These boxes will help store our instruments safer.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

This year is the first time in over 10 years that our school has had an open and inclusive instrumental music program. Over 90 Percent of our students are from economically disadvantaged families.
Our growing program is in need of appropriate and functional equipment.
Some of our inventory has not been updated or replaced since 1990. Our students have made great strides with the equipment we have, but they deserve equipment at standard with other Middle Schools across our state and our nation.
This instrument purchase will couple with our annual growth goals to continue providing superb music education to the students of Helms Middle School.
The Cello section at Helms has grown in number and in skill, but our storage space has not grown! We are currently storing 5 cellos standing up in a corner because it's the "safest option possible." This storage system leads to inadvertent drops and tip-overs. The cellos are routinely bumped by nearby lockers when the slide over.
The cello boxes in this project will help our students store their instruments more safely.
Students won't risk unintentional damage. The instruments used by these 5 students will be better cared for, making each instrument last longer than they would otherwise stored as is.
