This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Every morning we have table center time and we use our tables during snack. Our chairs are old and falling apart. We need chairs that don't send us falling to the floor because they break apart from the legs.
My students are from low income families.
We live in high poverty community. The school is a great safe haven for many of our students. We are limited on the funds to help us purchase items that are necessary in our school. My students are eager to learn and love playing at the tables however sometimes they can't because their chairs are broke.
My Project
By having new chairs we will be able to do the necessary projects at our tables without the worry of is my chair going to hold me up or not. Table centers will be more engaging and fun when we have nice durable chairs to sit in. As of right now at least 10 of our chairs are hot glued together just to try and help hold the students. We will learn how to properly sit in a chair without fear of the chair breaking and sending a child to the floor.
Donations to this project will help us improve our ability to sit correctly in a chair without fear of the chair breaking out from underneath each child.
It will change the fact that if were to have proper seating at the tables we could learn how to sit correctly in a chair, we could use the tables for art project because we would have proper seating to do so.
