Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My sixth grade MLL students are sweet and kind. They love to come to school every day! My students are enthusiastic and eager about improving their English speaking, writing and reading skills. My students really enjoy reading, solving math problems, and writing about different topics. They are excited about school and love learning new things.
All of my sixth grade students are Multilingual language learners.
Some of my students are also special needs and have Individualized Education Programs. They struggle with reading, writing, science and math. I teach students from Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, India, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Colombia, Guatemala, China, Cambodia, Vietnam, and Haiti. My students come from low-income backgrounds.
My Project
We are not traditionally sharing materials such as pencils, pens, markers, books and many other items in school but we have some items such as chrome books, desks and students are now eating in classrooms during breakfast and lunch will allow us to keep safe in our class if the hand sanitizers, wipes, tissues will help keep our learning environment clean and safe. Our desks, tables, and chairs get dirty over time. We need wipes to use in the classroom to keep our tables, chairs, and desks clean. The wipes will be used to sanitize our furniture and keep them free of germs. We also need Kleenex tissues to use in the classroom and help keep student masks clean. My students get sick, especially in the winter months in New England so my students need to use tissues when they sneeze or have runny noses. With restrictions in place due to Pandemic, it will be very beneficial for our MLL students that are in person learning at school.
