This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our students come to us primarily from Central and South America. Many of them do not speak English upon entering our school. As English Learners not only do they have the daunting task of learning English just to get by in the world, but must also learn mathematics and science as well.
I am working with with a group of energetic fifth graders that are eager to learn and have lots of personality!
The students can't wait to get in the building and start their day. They not only want to learn but to succeed. With the appropriate level of support and instructional materials, I know that my students can and will be successful!
My Project
I am requesting 50 earbuds, a tape recorder with cassettes, and some Clorox wipes which will help keep us safe and sound! The Clorox Wipes will help keep my students safe during the rise of Covid-19 infections in our district. We use wipes daily to clean surfaces in our room so that we are still able to move about and work in collaborative groups.
Meeting my students where they are and supporting them in their educational growth is my main priority!
Having a tape recorder and cassette tapes will allow me to support my EL students in learning the language while differentiating their work.
The earbuds will allow students opportunities to independently engage in a multitude of multi-media sources that will enhance classroom instruction.
