Safe and Interactive Learning in ELA Classroom

My Students

My 9th grade English Language Arts students are curious and clever, but have had limited opportunities to show these strengths due to virtual learning and low-contact constraints on schools in the past couple years. Students are more used to online learning management systems than ever, but many have expressed their exhaustion with using computers all day; my goal is to limit my students’ online time where I can. Despite our limitations, we’re determined to get back to a couple safe hands-on learning activities.

My students excel in projects and activities that involve movement and interaction.

By funding my project, you will help incorporate more of these activities into class and help them engage with our curriculum, while keeping them safe!

My Project

Because learning activities have been limited by COVID-19, students need different ways to show what they know! My students have been missing student to student interaction in the classroom and hands-on learning, and this grant would broaden their opportunities to do this in a safe way.

The social and tactile aspects of learning are a big focus in my classroom, and this project enables students to access them while social distancing!

By funding this project, you help us keep options open for students to share what they are working on, to have curriculum-centered conversations, and practice grade-level communication skills. As students see more of each other’s work, they will gain appreciation for their classmates and will be encouraged to engage more deeply with their learning.
