Celebrating Black History Month

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Our students attend an inner-city public school where approximately 90% live below the poverty line. We spend a lot of time doing hands-on learning.

All of our students receive free or reduced-price lunch and participate in the backpack program on the weekends.

This does not stop our students from coming to school and showing their love for learning. We love to explore everything around us, both inside and outside of the classroom. We love to show what we know and learn in a hands-on way.

My Project

Now that we are back in school we have found a new challenge. Making choice time engaging and safe for all students. I would like to have a lot of choices that can be put in bins and sanitized between uses to let students learn and play at the same time.

The Magnetic Building Sticks Building Blocks Set is a great STEM choice.

Students can build and create while thinking through their designs. The Play-Doh and Sensory Sand, along with the tools to go with them help students work on fine motor skills and let them express their creativity.

The Magnetic Dress-Up Dolls are always a fun choice for pretend play when we can't have a dramatic play area. The pony bead and elastic will allow students to create bracelets and have fun.
