Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I teach Special Education in an urban school setting. My students are in 6th through 8th grades and are working at or below grade level. A majority of my students learn at a kindergarten to 1st grade level.

All my students receive Special Education Services, but that does not deter them from wanting to be productive members of society.

I want them to feel successful. All kids, even my 7th graders, can be endearing. Each and every one of them has endearing qualities; granted, some of them hide there good points better than others, but they are there.

Wow! Do I ever learn a LOT from my kids! Some class discussions might revolve around a trip my students have taken and the things they saw and places they visited. This makes me want to go there as well.

My Project

While most students are learning from home, my students will be learning at school. In order to keep them safe, we have to increase our safely measures. We need supplies to make sure our students' work environments stay safe and clean.

We want to also teach our students how to stay clean and safe by adding living skills of cleaning into our daily routine.

This is our new normal, and we want our students to be a part of it.

The goal of having these cleaning supplies is to keep my students in school. They need the social learning/skills and daily living skills of cleaning.
