My students need safe youth-size soccer goals and other soccer equipment!
I'm new to this school, however, it is like a second home to me now. Most of my students are really good students who work really hard and try to do the right thing and achieve. Most of them are children of new immigrant families who do their best and work really hard to provide for their families. They focus on academics, which is great, however, they don't pay much attention to extracurricular activities or sports, especially the girls.
We have a really good athletic program and a really good facility.
We just need equipment. As the new soccer coach, I'm trying to build up our soccer program, update, and get more safe and age-appropriate equipment for our boys and girls.
My girls and boys soccer teams need regulation soccer goals that are safe for our students to practice with and also appropriate for home games. I have 25 girls and 25 boys who will benefit from having appropriate and safe goals to practice with and play the sport they love at their home field and be proud of their school. As a matter of fact, the whole student body will be able to use the goals during PE or lunchtime to play soccer.
We have three or four home games, but currently, do not have full-size goals for practice or for our games.
We are part of a four-middle school league and we play six to eight games per season, which starts in early March and ends in late April. We started practicing early this year in hopes that we will be ready.
I picked the least expensive full-size goals I could find. Regulation goals are very expensive but the ones I ordered are lightweight, safe, and portable and will improve my students' experience. I also ordered corner flags, a first aid kit, red goalie gloves and red (school color) soccer balls for home games as we must provide game balls for home games. We will use these goals and equipment for every practice and every home game.
We can't afford to buy new uniforms, let alone new regulation goals. Our students really feel bad about this and ask why the other schools in the same district can afford good goals and we can't. So here I am asking for your help to get these students to play good soccer, have fun, stay off the street, and be proud of their school.
