My Students

We are a group of middle school students from rural Pennsylvania. Learning a second language is very important to us as culturally diverse experiences are not prevalent in our area. We rely on our World Language classes to give us global awareness and cultural sensitivity.

Technology allows us to connect with Hispanic people from around the country and the globe.

With reliable technology we can see the world and communicate with its people. Inspiring experiences such as these motivate us to continue our language learning journey, demonstrating our acceptance & appreciation of cultures different than our own.

My Project

In our classroom we are creating a permanent "recording corner" where students can go and practice proficiency skills in the target language. This dedicated space will allow me as a teacher to "hear" each and every one of my student's voices, which before technology was impossible. We already have a space with headsets, microphones and a green screen.

With a dedicated Chromebook device for the recording corner, students can practice performance assessments and communicate with other sister classrooms across the country and the globe anytime throughout the school day.

Students will create recordings to share on sites such as FlipGrid. We also hope to conduct Mystery Hangouts with sister schools around the globe.
