We are a Montessori program. In Montessori we have "going out" activities. Going out activities refer to activities that give older elementary students (gr. 4-5-6) opportunities to plan, organize, raise funds for, and carry out trips away from the classroom and the school, out into the community.
We are a Montessori pubic charter school.
I am a traditional teacher with a multiple subjects credential, and I am also working on my Upper Elementary Montessori Credential. I have 26 students ages 9-12 years old, they span across grades 4, 5 and 6. Montessori groups students by age to support their readiness, and to provide them the opportunity to observe the works of older students, work with older students, and work with students who match their abilities regardless of grade level.
My students are all creative and bright individuals who are peaceful, helpful, and energetic. Montessori pedagogy has a focus on peace, and creating peaceful self managing, and self directed learners who will bring positivity and honor into the world around them.
My Project
Young people engage in an inquiry-based program to explore the natural world, build community with others, and develop self-reflection and communication skills. Working in small groups through a carefully crafted, experiential program, students are empowered to share their discoveries with one another. They return to their school and home communities understanding their responsibilities as ecological stewards and peace-makers.
Donations toward meeting our financial goal will allow these students to have an invaluable life experience.
These students will gain knowledge that they can then share with the students in the lower grade levels.
