The kids at my school come to school each and every day energized and ready to learn. We are located in the great state of Nebraska. Our school is not a Title I school, so funding for extra supplies is not in the budget. There are students with family serving in the military, students who are English Language Learners, and many more.
The students love to create plays from the books that we are reading.
They need materials to make the plays more creative and inventive.
Kindergarten is an important year of school for the children.
It is the first year they are working together as a team, so every child can succeed!
My Project
The kindergarten students in my room love to tell stories and act them out. We have an iPad in our room and the kids would love to make videos and picture collages of their stories and plays.
We need costumes, paint, paper, puppets, and books to help our stories come to life!
The books will help the students come up with ideas to create new and inventive stories in our classroom. We need costumes, puppets, and paint to make our stories more visually pleasing. The paper will help the students plan their story making process. We need storage to keep everything together and neat.
The penguin books will allow us to create both fiction and nonfiction stories which is a standard throughout different grades. After comparing the two types of books, the children can act out the two types of books in a video recording using puppets and vests. The children will also learn the importance of taking care of our environment with the stories and videos they are making.
The Q and U books will let the children compare and contrast between different books about a similar subject and then we can have an actual wedding in the classroom for Q and U complete with a royal wedding party, royal invitations, and royal videographer! Any grade could pick stories their children love to compare and contrast.
We would digitally share the stories and plays with other classrooms around the country with Skype and Zoom. We would also provide parents with a link to watch and participate in the process with the children.
