This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach PE to students in grades K-5 in a multicultural school that celebrates diversity. My students enjoy running, racing, biking, bowling, dancing, and tennis. They also enjoy reading, math and playing foursquare and basketball at recess. All the students at my school are able to eat breakfast at school for free. Many students are bilingual. A few don't speak much English but are making progress every day. Students in my PE classes are currently working on dance concepts, nutrition, and Frisbee skills.
My Project
My students love to wear boots on rainy days. The shoes I'm requesting are for students who love to run but can't when wearing boots. I heard a teacher say that she has used shoes that students wearing boots can borrow in her gym. I thought I should try that as well, but with new shoes from Donors Choose! About half of the shoes I'm requesting are for students to take home to wear because they need a new pair of good running shoes. The other half would be used for students to borrow when needed. Those that seem to borrow them often would be able to take them home as well.
