This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach PE to students in grades K-5 in a multicultural school that celebrates diversity. My students enjoy running, racing, bowling, dancing, and tennis. They also enjoy reading, math, and playing foursquare, and basketball at recess. Our school is an open-concept school which means that there are no walls that separate classes from one another. Every year, we have a family multi-cultural night where families bring food and wear traditional clothes to celebrate their culture. It's a great time to celebrate the diversity at our school.
My Project
I see some students coming to PE wearing boots. It's hard for them to participate in running, galloping and jumping activities in the gym. Boots and dress shoes also make it hard to play games at recess like kick ball and four-square. The shoes I'm requesting will be for students who need something to move comfortably around in when they are at school, especially when they are in PE. Some students at my school have PE once every 3 weeks. Having shoes to run and play in when they are at PE and recess will help student be active every day as they participate in sports like soccer during recess.
