This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
The students I am looking to support this year are a group of student athletes that come from mostly economically disadvantaged backgrounds. Being able to play Soccer for Rusheon gives these students an opportunity that they may not get like their peers in other parts of the Parish do. Unfortunately due to the backgrounds our school cannot charge the students to play like some schools do as this would eliminate their ability to play. These students love Rusheon and they love being part of a team, something many of them have not had the chance to do before.
My Project
This project will support both Boys and Girls Soccer at Rusheon Middle School. The boys and girls that come together to form Rusheons teams are some of the best students Rusheon has to offer.
Unfortunately many come from very financially disadvantaged environments.
Due to this we do not charge our students to join the soccer league, we usually make up the funds needed to support the team through the gate proceeds, unfortunately due to COVID and the associated limits of attendance, we cannot guarantee we can provide for all our students this season.
Your donation will provide for the safety equipment (shin Guards) and training balls that our kids will need to continue to succeed. This program has given some of our students a chance to be on a team that they've never had before and we need your help to keep that going.
