My Students

My students are 3rd-6th grade girls who are participating in a new program at our school. Girls On The Run is an after school program that encourages young girls to establish a healthy lifestyle. Promoting self confidence, healthy habits, and goal setting are important components of this program. Lessons and running will help empower young girls to establish these qualities in their lives. Showing these girls how to develop these traits in their lives will encourage girls to be the best that they can be!

My Project

Girls On The Run is a new program at our school for 3rd-6th grade girls. We will meet 2 days a week, for 10 weeks in our elementary school gym. Although the word running is in the title of this program, it is about more than running. GOTR is designed to help young girls to set goals, move out of their comfort zone, and empower them to do great things. Daily lessons together with discussions on topics that are important and relevant to young girls will help develop confidence in these young girls. Incorporating physical activity and goal setting will help show girls that they can be healthy, confident, and capable of trying new things and challenges. The girls will work toward an end goal of participating in a 5K and becoming healthy, confident members of our school and community.

The watches that I am requesting will help our GOTR participants set goals and track their physical progress toward these goals.
