I teach Kindergarten at a public school with very motivated and creative students. They come to school excited and ready to learn from a variety of backgrounds and life experiences.
My goal is to provide a warm and inviting environment for my students that promotes engagement and a life-time love for learning.
This year, my classroom's carpet will be replaced with tile. Our school does not provide us with area rugs nor does the county fund these types of items.
We are excited to get new flooring for our classroom, however Kindergarteners spend a vast amount of time on the floor during the school day. Our days begin with our morning announcements, a friendly greeting, a daily song, and calendar math. During this time the boys and girls participate by sitting together as a group on the floor. Throughout the day the students also sit together during our whole group lessons, independent reading, buddy reading, and mathematical partner work. So having a large area rug will provide a comfortable and fun learning environment. This rug will be kept for years to come, so that other students can enjoy their learning experiences.
