I am the lucky one to be able to teach 16 energetic second graders this year. They work hard at focusing and not distracting away from the learning targets we want to accomplish. My students have a variety of learning styles which makes them unique individuals who deserve an education that is presented in a way that meets their needs.
My students come to school each day to learn something new.
We have created a family atmosphere where each student is an important human being with ideas worth listening to. We celebrate our differences and look forward to creating memories that bring us together.
We help, care, and encourage each other every day to bring out the best in each other. When we learn in a healthy way, we grow immensely.
My students live and go to school in a rural small town community with low-income/high poverty. I have purchased many items for our classroom with my personal money and the respect and excitement the children show towards these items are heartwarming.
My Project
With a classroom built with tile floors, a carpet is necessary for gathering during whole group and small group instruction. Our 15 year old carpet is dirty and ripping apart on the edges. Since it has seen better days, we are requesting a bigger rug to accommodate many students at one time.
These rugs will fit in nicely with our flexible seating atmosphere.
The large gray rug will host our morning smart start activities as well as whole group instruction throughout the day during different subjects. The small gray rug will also be used each day to give students a place to read and do work away from their desks. Both rugs will be available for options when small groups are collaborating on a project.
My goal is to make my classroom an open and inviting learning environment for my school family. When my students feel good and relaxed, learning takes on new levels.
