Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have the best group of diverse learners from all over New Haven. They are loving, smart and caring. They come from different backgrounds but all want to learn and come ready every day to try their best. Most of my students come from low-income families that are unable to provide additional supplies for school. When they come to school they want to feel safe and taken care of. I want them to be comfortable at school while they are learning.

My Project

I am asking for a new carpet for my students because the one I have is dirty and stained. Students should not come to school and have to sit on a dirty carpet while trying to learn. We sit on the carpet for whole and small group learning times. We conduct morning meeting, teach phonics, read stories and teach math skills on the carpet area. The carpet gets used also during play time as well and the students enjoy time spent on it. The students deserve a nice clean carpet to sit on where they can be comfortable while learning new skills!
