My Students
My students are energetic and full of spirit! They live in a community where they are able to spend a lot of time outdoors, so when they are in the classroom they need a lot of creative, interactive and hands-on learning opportunities to keep them engaged and stimulated.
This group of students need to move around!
I want to provide my students with multiple learning areas within the classroom where they are able to thrive in a creative learning environment that will allow them a way to channel that energy into their learning.
My Project
The rug I selected will provide an inviting and educational base for the reading area I am creating for my 5th graders next year. The Solar System design is a perfect enhancement for our "Reading Adventures" theme. This vibrant rug will not only provide a clean and inviting reading area, but it will also serve as a constant visual that will help the students learn and remember the names and placements of the planets as well as understand that the planets revolve around the sun. I believe children learn a lot from what they observe in their environment (without even realizing they are learning), so my goal is to create a learning environment that naturally produces learning.
