Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The Rubik's Cube is back and my students are ready to start solving! My students come from a variety of backgrounds and come from households where many different languages are spoken. My school is a Title I school in which 100% of the students receive free lunch.
One thing that all of my students have in common is that they love a challenge!
Most students can't wait to get their hands on a Rubik's Cube! My students are no exception. The problem is that many of them do not have a Rubik's Cube at home to try and solve so they are not able to challenge their minds with the cube.
My Project
Students walk into my class each day and see three Rubik's Cubes that I have and ask if they can try to solve one. I want to start a Rubik's Cube Club at school. Once I have a few more cubes I will be able to start to teach them methods and strategies for solving. It is tough to solve, but taking on that challenge and working through the really hard parts will teach my students that they can do anything!
The students will be using instruction booklets, watching tutorials, and getting help from teachers and other students in order to learn strategies to solve the Rubik's Cube.
The club will be a supportive environment where students will learn to communicate, help others, and overcome challenges.
