Maroon Raiders! Our school has very talented athletes in many different sports they are all passionate about what they do. But crew is different than most other sports.
As coaches, we sometimes need to stretch our budgets as much as possible.
We are often in charge of fundraising and raising money in order to fund needed equipment to help our team progress. This upcoming season our team is lacking a few essential pieces of equipment needed to be safe on the water as well as competitive with other programs.
Being a water sport that involves the safety of its rowers as well as helping them to excel means our equipment needs to be updated often. This means we need some of the essentials to build skill, sportsmanship, and teamwork. We coach both boys and girls and they often share equipment to keep our program running.
My Project
I am requesting shoes for inside our boat. Shoes are an important piece of equipment that is often overlooked. Not only do they help in performance but they are also used for safety. Having good shoes attached to the boat helps in having a good connection when rowing.
Shoes are essential for safety as well as performance.
We as coaches want all our athletes to benefit. So we are asking for 8 sets of shoes ($74.50 per pair) 3 sets of boat slings ($134.65 per pair) so repairs can be made to our equipment as well as 3 coaches watches ($149 each) - so we can help our teams to excel. Although, we have 5 coaches we feel it is just too much to ask for 5 watches.
Crew is a sport where we practice every day - 6 days a week and race on the weekends. Losing 1 day puts us behind our competitors - especially for our new, novice rowers. Our rowers are extremely dedicated and able to deal with all forms of adversity.
Weather does not slow us down - similar to our mail carries - practice is not canceled for rain, sleet or snow!
