My students are at a Title One school in Las Vegas. Some of the students have limited English skills and benefit from diverse teaching styles.
My students are energetic, excited and have a love of learning.
They are a kindergarten class that wiggles, wonders and works to learn exciting things daily. As any kindergarten teacher will tell you, kindergarten is the start for their love of learning. Hands-on materials and a warm learning environment help to create that love of learning.
My students need a new round carpet in our classroom to sit at during morning message and whole group instruction time. Having a round carpet over a rectangular one will help the students connect more with each other and promote a sense of community.
Studies have shown that when students are sitting in a circle where they can see each other they are able to feel more connected and share more with each other.
When doing hands-on activities, sitting in a circle provides more space for work and allows everyone to see what their partners have done. This allows them to share their learning with each other and to learn from each other.
