Rosin: Keep the Music Playing!

Help me give my students their own individual rosin! We are hoping to get a rosin for each student so they can keep their instrument and bow working well, especially if we move to virtual learning.

My Students

I teach orchestra to 4th and 5th graders in two Title 1 elementary schools. These students come from all different walks of life and cultures to make music together! Being in orchestra gives many of these students an opportunity they wouldn't normally have. Music has so many benefits, and it's an experience these students truly deserve!

My Project

In orchestra, we need rosin to keep our bows working. Rosin makes the hairs on our bow sticky so they will make sound on our orchestra instruments (violin, viola, cello, and bass). Without rosin, our bow stops making sounds with our instrument. The music literally stops!

Having their own rosin will allow every student to sound their best; whether we are teaching in-person or online.

It's frustrating to work on any project without adequate resources, supplies, and equipment that works. Not only with the students sound their best when they practice, they also get an opportunity to build responsibility!
