My students are active learners from different backgrounds and with different needs. They are a young bunch, and need constant engagement to keep focused and willing to learn. Kindergarten is the age when kids begin exploring their academics with excitement!
With the right resources, we can create a learning environment in which all types of learners can benefit.
In Kindergarten, most teachers are faced with the difficulty of having a very wide range of learners. When teachers are given tools to enhance their lessons, the possibilities for learning grow.
My Project
Our class is excited about STEM and the Rosie Revere book! Her book is an inspiring "teacher" when it comes to transitioning into elementary school as a new student, as the story highlights how our differences make us more interesting and unique in the best way. Our students would love to visit the Herbst Theatre to see a live, musical performance of Rosie so they can see that there are various ways of storytelling!
Reading Rosie Revere and Iggy Peck books is always a wonderful way to learn about ourselves and the world around us, but seeing Rosie in person, singing and dancing is a whole other kind of experience!
We want to enhance the social/emotional curriculum, usually taught extensively using Kindergarten books, by showing students that there are other ways of storytelling.
