My students need a place to become one. Students that apply to Perrin Learning Center are very unique and have not experienced outdoor education. The $1080 is the most expensive cost, but a lasting memory!
My campus is an alternative high school for at-risk students. The non-discipline approach with creative lesson plans make for a very positive environment for our diverse group. The 7 teachers are experts in their discipline and offer differentiation learning for every student.
Our school is a small campus that does not have a PTA or any team sports.
Therefore, there are not any student led activities that bring them together as a unified student body. The students come to class and have accelerated learning that is student centered. I want to incorporate more hands-on team projects that will unify our diverse student population. Working together towards a goal is what this proposed project is all about!
My Project
Camp JOLT will provide 5 team building activities that will incorporate students helping each other and critical thinking skills. From using ropes and knowledge of vectors, students will land a payload into its home base. Also, team building will be prevalant in pulling a rope to raise a student high in the air and be released. Students will use timers and mathematics to determine the period of the human pendulum, Another exhilireating componet of Camp JOLT is experiencing the outdoors. Nature hikes will take us into dense forest to learn about GPS tracking, insect idenification, and fossil hunting.
Our hopes are to encourage everyone to cheer on each other and build a close relationship with each other that will bring unity to our student body.
