This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
As a teacher, I want to provide a fun, safe, caring, and engaging environment for all my students. Some come from single-parent homes and are on the free or reduced-price lunch program. I strive to provide a positive and exciting experience that most of my students may never have a chance to experience at home.
Each student enters into my classroom filled with excitement and anticipation ready to learn something new.
As a teacher, I want to continue that feeling each day with a variety of materials.
Our school is a small diversified public school that has a unique model. It is designed to provide a continuous and nurturing educational experience in a small school environment. Located on one campus, the school currently enrolls kindergarten through grade 8.
My Project
The students will be taught how to explore the materials to make it most beneficial and unique to each student's learning needs. I want my students to have an opportunity to use a variety of hands-on materials that will open their minds to explore the world of reading through the use of letter recognition, letter sounds, and playing phonemic games.
Studies suggested that learning to read early improves brain development.
My students will learn how to sound out a word by pulling it apart and putting it back together this is the begin of reading skills. Reading will play an essential part in shaping each student to become an avid reader.
