My students need this collection of books that are diverse, from different genres, and set in different time periods to explore comprehension in reading.
If it's motivation you're looking for, you'll find it in the students at my school! These kids are driven, motivated, and engaged. It's our job as teachers to keep the intrigue alive. We all love the books our teachers read aloud to us, let's keep that going for our kids. These books make read-alouds intentional, educational, and engaging.
These kids love to read anything they can get their hands on, so let's make their time captivating!
They enjoy all genres and any read aloud their teachers share with them.
My Project
Every child loves to read new books. I am aiming to do my best to keep that love going. Adding books to our classroom library that showcase diverse storylines and characters is so important in 3rd grade.
When looking for children’s books to read for fun, both kids and adults agree they “just want a good story." These book choices are wonderful, deep, and engaging.
They were researched and chosen by fabulous teachers. One of the books, "Spaghetti in a Hot Dog Bun" encourages children to be proud of who they are. There is such a great diversity as well. In "Ruby's Wish," a little girl in China is determined to go to college like the boys in her family. Rooted in Reading is a set of lesson plans for deeper meaning and comprehension strategies that focus around a read-aloud story each week.
The teacher reads one of the books throughout the week and models how to think deeply, ask questions, monitor comprehension, and so much more. These books are going to captivate our students. There are forty specifically-chosen books that will help our students find new authors, characters, and storylines to love. Forty books to make some of our readers fall in love with reading again.
