My students need various picture books for us to use in class to build their different learning skills. Instead of always just using a textbook to teach standards, we want to be engaged in new ways!
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
These students come in each day with smiles on their faces and ambition to do their best. They are such hard workers and are so full of energy! One of my most frequent questions is, "Can I help you with something?" They have such wonderful hearts and are eager to help.
We are trying a new system for reading that involves more engaging activities that go along with grade level texts.
We want to ditch those worksheets and work through standards in a fun way!
My Project
Instead of always using a textbook, which can become very boring and redundant, I am looking for ways to increase student engagement. Using these books in lieu of a textbook will be really helpful for them to see great visuals and to get a chance to read texts that have won various medals.
Students are never too old to use picture books as a resource.
My third graders love to pick out different picture books to read. Making learning fun is a big priority for me because if they are having fun they will be more likely to learn! The children deserve to try something new.
