This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My first year of teaching has been a whirlwind of emotions! I've had good days and I've had not so good days, but every day I manage to smile because of my kiddos!
I greet my students every morning with a big smile and open arms for big hugs!
My Children are so kind, selfless, and eager to learn. I consider myself very blessed to be their teacher!
Most of my students come from low-income backgrounds, and the school that I teach at is considered a Title 1 school. I make sure that my students have all the materials they need and want in order to succeed!
I am loving the teaching profession so far and I can't wait to end the year with the students that have also taught me!
My Project
We are so excited to be starting a new reading program! This reading program will increase student engagement in reading!
We all remember the boring reading textbooks in school.
This program will eliminate those textbooks. Instead, we will be reading stories that are relevant to the students, show awesome text features, and teach students how to infer information.
These books are a combination of fiction, nonfiction, and narratives. They will also learn new vocabulary words and grammar structures. The students will do interesting interactive activities based on each story. This is where their engagement will rise to a whole new level!
This new program will increase not only their reading levels but also their interest and love for reading!
