My Students

I love that my students enjoy learning! They work hard to finish their work and are eager to help out others if needed. We sit around the classroom a lot during the day and it makes learning fun. We implemented CKH on our campus and it has helped them be more reflective of their behavior towards others. We have a classroom social contract and they “check” others who may not be on task. They get excited for others when accomplishments are achieved and have learned to use words of encouragement.

My Project

In addition to our reading curriculum and textbooks, I use Rooted in Reading which is a supplemental source of lesson plans using literature. The lessons are aligned to the Texas Standards, TEKS.

I would like to have a partner set of these books so that my students can partner read for fluency and comprehension practice.

I have used the supplemental resource with one book and it is difficult for my students to practice sufficiently. By having 6 copies of each book it will allow more students at one time to use the book while working on their reading skills. Also, by having multiple copies of each title, they can practice fluency with our classroom partner whisper phones. It will also be beneficial when I have a student absent and need to send a book home to complete makeup work.
