Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students deal with stressors that stem from socio-economic issues like poverty and unemployment. Nevertheless, they come to school eager to learn and with high hopes for a brighter future.
My students attend an inner city high needs, low-income middle school where more than 95% of students are people of color who qualify for a free or reduced price lunch.
Many bring their worries, doubts, hopes, and dreams with them to school daily based on experiences that ultimately fuel them to transform not only their lives but those of their loved ones as well. Despite it all, they come to school with joy, laughter, and curiosity.
My Project
Our girls soccer team is very excited about this season. Their team spirit and hard work at practice is truly inspiring. They have been working very hard to make this a winning season but they need the basics to ensure that practice is efficient and safe. As coaches, it is essential that we provide preventative care during practice. Help support our team by providing us with the soccer equipment we need to make practice safe and fun. The shin guards, goalie gloves, cooler, and Gatorade bottles, will ensure that our athletes are properly protected and hydrated during practice. The hurdles, soccer balls, and cones will help provide structure for drills during practice.
