My students need a classroom that has flexible seating options appropriate for children five years old. We need portable lap desks /laptop stand/ writing table for students to be able be comfortable while completing their work.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach full day kindergarten in an urban school with most students living below the poverty line. My students come from a variety of backgrounds and are eager to learn. Most of my students come to kindergarten without and previous schooling and it is my job to make their first introduction to learning happen in a fun and safe environment.
These children walk into my classroom on the first day of school with little knowledge of numbers and letters and leave being able to read, add and subtract.
To watch them grow and develop over the course of the year the most rewarding part of teaching.
My Project
Often in schools we ask students to sit at tables or desks for long periods of time, but in kindergarten this is not realistic. Having lap desks allows students to be able to sit comfortably while being able to move around and get their wiggles out.
Flexible seating options give little ones the ability to focus on their learning instead of channeling their energy into trying to sit still.
IN kindergarten students learn how to control their bodies and develop gross motor skills and having a classroom where they are able to freely move allows them to develop these critical skills. Often it is very difficult for students with disabilities such as autism to work at a desk surrounded by other students, flexible seating options give these students the ability to take these lap desks and find a quiet comfy spot in the classroom to work.
