My Students

Ewwww! What is that? This is what my students say each time we sit on the carpet for stories and calendar. Our carpet is over 7 years old and it has many stains on it.

Our school is located in a lower to middle-class neighborhood.

My students' families are hard-working; however, they do not have the "extra" income to help our school. My first grade students have many different needs, as well as abilities. They are energetic and enthusiastic learners. They are happy to clean the room using our mini-vacuum as often as they can. They enjoy having a clean environment.

My Project

Having a clean, brightly colored carpet for our calendar meeting and story time will help students stay focused on our objectives. Currently, my students are not able to concentrate on my calendar lessons since our carpet has many stains which take their attention from the tasks being taught.

We need a clean area to listen to stories, lay down and enjoy reading independently, and learn about calendar concepts.
